Ryan and Ainslee’s Wedding at Archeo Restaurant in the Distillery District, Toronto

On a beautiful April evening, Ryan and Ainslee celebrated their love with family and friends at Archeo Restaurant in the historic Distillery District of Toronto. Their reception was intimate, warm, and full of the kind of joyful moments that make wedding photography so meaningful — laughter, dancing, emotional speeches, and a room filled with people who were truly happy to celebrate them.

Ryan and Ainslee had already exchanged vows during a private ceremony in Hawaii a month earlier, but they wanted to share their happiness with their closest family and friends back in Toronto. Archeo Restaurant was the perfect choice for that kind of celebration. With its rustic charm, exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, the venue created a beautiful backdrop for an intimate wedding reception.

As a wedding photographer, I always love venues that feel personal and full of character. Archeo has that timeless urban charm — historic, cozy, romantic, and stylish without feeling too formal. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this evening would be filled with genuine emotion and beautiful candid moments. Ainslee looked stunning in her white gown, and Ryan looked sharp in his black suit. Together, they brought such a relaxed and happy energy to the night.

The reception began with cocktail hour, where guests mingled, enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and slowly settled into the celebration. The warm atmosphere of the restaurant made everyone feel comfortable right away. As the evening continued, the dance floor filled with guests of all ages, and the night became a perfect mix of emotional moments, fun energy, and heartfelt celebration.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at venues like Archeo is the way the space adds depth and warmth to the images. The brick walls, wood details, and soft lighting gave the photos a romantic, almost cinematic feeling. These are the kinds of venues where candid photography really shines because the environment already feels intimate and inviting.

Now that Alexandra Joy Photography is based in Austin, Texas, I often think about how this kind of wedding style translates beautifully to couples planning weddings here. Austin has some wonderful venues with a similar historic, industrial, and warm urban feel. Brazos Hall in downtown Austin, for example, has restored pine floors, exposed brick, tall windows, and a rooftop deck with skyline views, making it a beautiful option for couples who love the character of a restored warehouse-style venue.

Another Austin venue with a similar intimate city feel is Palm Door on Sabine, an urban loft event space in downtown Austin with hardwood floors, 14-foot ceilings, and a clean, flexible layout that works beautifully for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and modern receptions. For couples who love a slightly more historic and creative East Austin atmosphere, Springdale Station is another beautiful option. It is a refurbished historic train station with indoor and outdoor spaces, historic architecture, contemporary design, and photo-ready backdrops throughout the property.

Whether a wedding takes place in Toronto’s Distillery District or at a historic Austin wedding venue, what I love most is capturing the feeling of the day — the real emotion, the quiet glances, the family connections, the movement on the dance floor, and all the little in-between moments that tell the full story. Ryan and Ainslee’s wedding was a perfect example of that: elegant, intimate, relaxed, and full of love.

It was such an honour to photograph this celebration at Archeo Restaurant in the Distillery District. As I continue photographing weddings in Austin, Texas, the Texas Hill Country, Dripping Springs, Georgetown, Lake Travis, and surrounding areas, I bring the same approach to every wedding day: natural storytelling, emotional images, and timeless photography that feels true to each couple.

If you are planning a wedding in Austin, Texas, or at a venue with a similar historic, rustic, urban, or intimate feel, I would love to hear more about your day and help capture it beautifully.
